star this property answer text <p>In its response to Sir Eric Pickles’ review of electoral fraud, the Government outlined its intention to run a number of pilot schemes at local government elections in 2018, to test the impact of voter identification measures on elections in Great Britain. The response sets out the different types of photographic and non-photographic identification that the Government intends to explore in pilot schemes.</p><p> </p><p>Given the potentially significant logistical and cost implications, the Government does not consider it feasible to pilot a new electoral identity card (of the kind currently used in Northern Ireland) in 2018.</p><p> </p><p>The pilot schemes are part of a comprehensive programme of work that will strengthen electoral integrity, enhance public confidence in our democratic processes, and ensure we can build a democracy that works for everyone.</p> more like this
